Sustainability
The Manor is committed to all aspects of sustainability and the environment.
Our forest, valley and lake have been designated as a County Wildlife Site (CWS) by the Devon Biodiversity Record Centre. These sites include rare varieties of fern, and a habitat used by visiting otters.
We maintain sustainably, but also allow guests to enjoy.

The owners of the Manor are well-respected international pioneers in Sustainable Energy. All conversions and new-builds at the Manor meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and use renewable energy wherever practical.

Heating is from sustainable biomass and heat-pump, and electricity is generated by three solar-photovoltaic (PV) arrays. Translucent Glass PV is architecturally integrated perfectly into rooftops. This is aesthetically pleasing and provides high-quality daylighting in the living spaces below.

We drive an electric car which is charged using PV.

The Manor Library includes the UK’s largest collection of Solar Energy works (collected over the past 50+ years) and hosts the Solar Energy Society’s (UK-ISES) Archive.
